Dilatation of the heart (lat. dilatatio cordis - expansion of the heart; synonyms dilated cardiomyopathy, DCA) - a progressive pathological enlargement of the chambers of the heart with expansion of the cavity of the ventricles and atria, associated with an increase in the number of their volumes and stretching of the walls.
