Dilcardia-Retard is a drug belonging to the group of calcium channel blockers of the benzodiazepine group. This drug is manufactured in India by Unique Pharmaceutical Laboratories and has the international name Diltiazem.

The dosage form of Dilcardia-Retard is film-coated tablets that contain the active ingredient - Diltiazem. They are intended for oral administration and have a dosage of 90 mg.

Dilcardia-Retard is used to treat a wide range of diseases of the cardiovascular system. It is used for the treatment of angina pectoris, the prevention of coronary spasm during coronary angiography or coronary artery bypass surgery, arterial hypertension, as well as for the relief of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation and paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia.

Dilcardia-Retard has a number of contraindications for use. It should not be prescribed for hypersensitivity to the active substance, cardiogenic shock, left ventricular systolic dysfunction, sinus bradycardia, sick sinus syndrome, sinoatrial and AV block II-III degree, severe aortic stenosis, Wolff-Parconson-White syndrome and Lown syndrome. Ganong-Levin with paroxysms of atrial fibrillation or flutter, impaired liver and kidney function, childhood, pregnancy and lactation.

Possible side effects when using Dilcardia-Retard may include transient hypotension, bradycardia, stage I conduction disturbance, decrease in cardiac output, palpitations, fainting, eosinophilia, headache, dizziness, weakness, feeling of fatigue, peripheral edema, impaired potency, dyspeptic symptoms, hyperplasia of the gum mucosa, sweating, redness of the skin, allergic reactions (skin rash and itching), rarely - exudative erythema multiforme and increased activity of transaminases (ALT, AST), lactate dehydrogenase and alkaline phosphatase, hyperglycemia.

The interaction of Dilcardia-Retard with other drugs can lead to an increase in plasma levels of carbamazepine, theophylline, cyclosporine, tacolimus, lovastatin, simvastatin, colchicine and fentanyl, as well as an increase in the effect of macrolide antibiotics, amidarone, beta-blockers, as well as a decrease in the effect anticoagulants and antiplatelet agents.

The use of Dilcardia-Retard may cause drowsiness and reduce the ability to drive vehicles and operate machinery, so you should refrain from such activities while taking the drug.

The dosage and duration of taking Dilcardia-Retard are determined by the doctor individually depending on the indications, age and condition of the patient. The usual starting dose is 1 tablet once a day, which can be increased to 2-3 tablets per day if necessary.
