A disorder of consciousness is a temporary or permanent disturbance of consciousness that can manifest itself in various forms. It can occur with various diseases of the brain or other organs, as well as under the influence of various factors, such as stress, injury, illness, or even alcohol or drugs.
Symptoms of a disorder of consciousness may include loss of consciousness, impaired perception of reality, dizziness, nausea, memory loss, motor impairment, etc. They can occur as a result of hypoxia (oxygen deficiency), intoxication, pain or damage to the central nervous system.
The causes of consciousness disorder are various diseases such as stroke, brain tumor, brain infections and other neurological problems. Alcohol intoxication and drug addiction may also be the cause.
Recovery from a disorder of consciousness can take from several hours to several days. During this period, the patient is usually discharged from the hospital and transferred under the supervision of relatives. The consequences of a disorder of consciousness are quite serious and can lead to loss of qualifications and work. However, proper diagnosis and treatment can reduce recovery time and minimize negative consequences.
