Dystonia

Dystonia is a set of various hyperkinetic syndromes that are characterized by repeated involuntary muscle contractions and movements of the human body, changes in speech and appearance. Such diseases include voluntary muscle spasms, clown attacks, choreoathetosis and tics. To treat dystonia, medications are used: muscle relaxants (botulinotherapy), anticholinergics (anticholinesterase drugs), drugs that affect the conduction of nerve impulses, mainly nootropics. If necessary, beta-blockers are prescribed. Stimulants of mediator processes in the central nervous system, tranquilizers (taking into account possible side effects in the form of deterioration of motor coordination), and psychostimulants can also be used. Treatment depends on the cause of dystonia.
