Edema of the Skin of the Lower Extremities, Hemorrhagic

Hemorrhagic edema of the skin of the lower extremities (lat. oedema haemorrhagicum membrorum inferiorum) is a pathological condition characterized by the accumulation of fluid mixed with blood in the intercellular space of the skin and subcutaneous tissue of the lower extremities.

Reasons for development:

  1. injuries, damage to blood vessels of the lower extremities;
  2. bleeding disorders;
  3. taking certain medications.

Symptoms:

  1. swelling and hardening of the skin of the lower extremities;
  2. hemorrhagic nature of skin rashes;
  3. pain on palpation.

Diagnosis is based on physical examination and laboratory tests (coagulogram, CBC).

Treatment:

  1. eliminating the cause;
  2. wearing compression stockings;
  3. drug therapy to improve microcirculation and lymphatic drainage.

The prognosis with timely treatment is favorable. Complications are possible in advanced forms (skin necrosis). Prevention consists of preventing injuries and following safety rules.

Edema of the skin of the lower extremities of hemorrhagic origin can be quite serious in medical practice. With this pathology, large-caliber vessels change, which entails a disruption in their structure and functions. The reason for this may be a significant accumulation of blood in the lower extremities due to injury or other factors. This process leads to weakness of the walls of blood vessels. It is this condition that manifests itself with certain symptoms, and is treated by a vascular surgeon. But first of all, you need to understand the reasons for its occurrence.
