Enteroscope

Enteroscopy is a method of examining the inner surface of the gastrointestinal tract using a special device - an enteroscope. An enteroscope is a long, flexible tube with a camera at the end that allows the doctor to see the inside of the intestine.

Enteroscopy is used to diagnose various diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, such as stomach ulcers, polyps, cancer and others. It can also be used to monitor treatment and evaluate the effectiveness of therapy.

One of the main advantages of enteroscopy is its accuracy and efficiency in diagnosing diseases. The doctor can see all the changes on the inner surface of the intestine, which allows you to accurately determine the diagnosis and prescribe the correct treatment.

However, enteroscopy also has its disadvantages. It can be unpleasant for the patient, especially if he is afraid of pain or does not want to go through the procedure. In addition, the procedure can be expensive and require special equipment.

Overall, enteroscopy is an important tool in the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases. It allows doctors to obtain accurate information about the condition of internal organs and prescribe the correct treatment.

Enteroscopy is a visual examination of the rectum and sigmoid colon using a special optical device - an enteroscope. For many decades and even centuries, doctors around the world have enjoyed success with research that allows not only to identify a sore spot in a person’s internal organs, but also to carry out a differential diagnosis of a complex disease.

Enteroscopic treatment methods are based on the introduction into the patient’s body of a tube – an endoscope, which can eliminate unwanted anatomical changes and restore damaged tissue. Endoscopic techniques are used to solve various problems. The following goals are being achieved: - Study of the localization of the tumor. - Diagnosis of the digestive system (stomach, intestines, anus). - Elimination of intestinal diseases. - Removal of tumors of any size directly into internal organs. - Endoscopy of the anus and rectum. - Treatment of paraproctitis.

Currently, endoscopic techniques are widely used in the treatment of a wide range of diseases. Enteroscopes are available in different types, often resembling a gastroscope in their design, structure and methods of implementation. There are the following types of this medical device: - rigid equipment; - semi-rigid specialized; - flexible endoscopy.

The FGDS or fibrogastroduodenoscopy method is the standard of medical protocol, which involves the use of a gastroscope with rigid high-resolution equipment. The peculiarity of its work is the ability to move along the anterior wall of the stomach. The principle of use involves 4 stages: - image of the stomach, pyloric canal and small intestine; - narrowing of channels for the introduction of contrast agents; - monitoring the condition of the stomach lining for the presence of tumors, gastritis, ulcers, erosions, bleeding, polyps and other possible problems; - If necessary, the doctor performs a biopsy. To achieve a positive effect, a combination of FGDS and colonoscopy is sometimes used, less often more modern methods are used (integrated equipment, therapeutic rectoscopes). Enteroscopy is completely safe, performed on an outpatient basis, and difficulties and complications are rare.
