Epithelioid (radiation) sclerosis is a progressive disease of unknown etiology, manifested by reactive inflammation of the skin in the form of polygonal or irregular yellowish areas with thickening of the dermis. This condition is a cell-mediated skin disease that causes areas of fibrosis to form in the dermis, leading to dry and flaky skin. The disease is characterized by an undulating course with possible spontaneous improvement or deterioration of the condition. The disease mainly affects middle-aged men, most often those who have undergone radiation therapy for malignant tumors.
