The femoral pudendal nerve is an unpaired nerve that is part of the femoral nerve. It is responsible for transmitting sensory and motor impulses from the genitals to the spinal cord. The nerve is part of the pelvis and enters the pelvis through the greater sciatic foramen.
The genitofemoral nerve consists of two parts: the inferior articular head and the superior umbilical region. The inferior articulated head emerges from the pelvis through the greater or lesser sciatic foramen and branches into the anterior commissure and posterior arch. The posterior arch passes along the surface of the bone of the posterior wall of the pelvis and at the base of the greater trochanter of the femur it passes into the pudendal cord. Crosses the anterior surface of the femur above the medial groove.
Branches of the lower part of the femoral nerve: * Superior epigastric branch. *Cervical inferior epigastric point.
