Physical training of troops, or as FS was popularly called, was an element of combat training of the USSR Armed Forces. However, its main significance lies in promoting the comprehensive development and improvement of the psychophysical abilities of soldiers.
Military tasks required high qualifications, responsible and professional training of personnel, excellent physical health, endurance and fitness to complete the assigned tasks. Therefore, improving the military and physical training of personnel was an important political task, covering all state, party and public organizations and labor collectives.
The first stage in the development and mastery of the theory of sports training began after the revolution of 1917, special attention was paid to the most important physical disciplines that were used in the training of officers and Red Army personnel. This practice continued in the post-revolutionary period, when the ideological plan of V.I. Lenin's vision of building a new, revolutionary society inevitably had to be accompanied by the construction of a powerful and combat-ready army. During the Civil War, work on military physical education was intended to ensure continuity between the teachings of bourgeois military theorists and the requirements of the political system of the Soviet country.
