Fluorine-

Fluor(f)-– (Latin fluor – “flow”, “flow”) – chemical. element belongs to group 20 of the first period; atomic number 9, atomic mass 19. Five stable isotopes are known for F, one is radioactive with a half-life of more than a day. “F” is a chemical element of the halogen group according to the classification of E. Rutherford. The F atom belongs to the noble gases; has an electronic configuration of the outer energy level 5s-2. A distinctive feature of the F atom is the small electron and large cluster negative polarizability and the largest bond between the nucleus and electrons in the bond.

Another fluorine isotope is of practical importance - unstable T (half-life 2 sec). It is widely used to destroy

Fluorography is a radiography method that uses long-wavelength X-rays to produce images. These rays have the ability to penetrate tissue and bones and then deflect from them. Using a special film or digital devices, an image is formed that makes it possible to study the condition of the chest organs. More than half a century ago, the development of this method made it possible to identify tuberculous infiltrates. Later, doctors began to use fluorography for preventive diagnostics, which reduced diagnostic time and cases of disability. Radiologists have also learned to use fluorography to identify the smallest calcifications. However, it is impossible to visualize the anatomy of bones, lymph nodes and soft tissues. However, fluorography makes it possible to determine their size, shape
