Title: Folk remedies for the treatment of cough

In autumn, colds worsen. Cough is one of their most common symptoms. It can be treated not only with medications, but also with folk remedies, which in most cases are very effective and help cope with the disease in a short time. I WANT offers you a few simple recipes of traditional medicine.

There are a huge number of different methods and means aimed at treating cough. They can be used either independently or as an addition to medications.

Let's look at the most common and effective folk methods for treating cough.

Inhalations for the treatment of cough

The most effective remedy for cough is, of course, inhalation. The choice of inhaler is very large. The procedure must be done for 10-20 minutes several times a day, and try not to go outside immediately after it, so that the effect of warming the throat does not disappear.

The easiest way to use an inhaler is to pour hot water into it, add 1 teaspoon of soda and 2 drops of iodine, and breathe in the fumes. Soda will soften the mucous membrane of the respiratory tract and thin out phlegm, and iodine will kill bacteria. The effect of such a procedure will be noticeable immediately.

You can also use various decoctions of medicinal herbs. For example, a decoction of sage, eucalyptus, mint, St. John's wort, wormwood and others.

Well, the most “folk” method is inhalation over boiled potatoes. To do this, you need to boil the potatoes, drain the water, and while the potatoes are still hot, breathe in the steam.

Cough drinks

Milk with honey. Heat the milk, add a pinch of soda, and drink it with honey. Remember that if you mix honey with hot milk, the honey will lose all its beneficial properties.

Black radish juice. To prepare this drink, you need to take a radish, make a hole in it and pour a little honey into it. After a few hours, juice will appear in the recess, which you need to drink 1 tbsp. spoon three times a day.

Viburnum decoction. This drink has an expectorant effect. Pour one glass of berries into a liter of hot water and boil for 10 minutes. Then, strain the broth, cool and add 3 tbsp. spoons of honey. This drink should be taken half a glass 3 times a day.

Water with salt or soda. This is one of the simplest expectorant recipes. Mix half a teaspoon of baking soda (salt) in 1/2 cup of warm water. This drink should be drunk 2 times a day.

Onions with milk. Take 10 onions and 1 head of garlic, finely chop and cook in milk until tender. Then add some mint juice and honey. For attacks of dry cough, take 1 tbsp. spoon every hour.

External cough treatment methods

Mustard plasters. Mustard plasters can be purchased at a pharmacy or made yourself. To do this, dilute mustard and flour in water in equal proportions to a paste consistency. You should keep them on your chest for 10-30 minutes, but if they start to burn too much, remove them immediately.

Banks. A very popular method for coughing is to “put” cups or do cupping massage. Jars with suction cups can be purchased at the pharmacy. For massage, you must first lubricate the skin of your back with oil or Vaseline. Suck the jar to the skin and carefully move it from the shoulder to the lower back, and back. The massage lasts only 5 minutes, and the skin quickly warms up and turns red.

Rubbing. An effective method of treating cough is rubbing the chest, neck and upper back with various warming pharmaceutical creams or goose fat, pine or cedar oil. After rubbing, you need to wrap yourself up well and sweat.
