PropylIodone
PropylIodine is a fluoroscopic contrast agent used in ophthalmology and otolaryngology to provide better visualization of the inner ear and sinuses of the nose, as well as the bronchial tree of the larynx and trachea. It is also used to brighten the inner surface of the auricle, some areas of the iris, ciliary body and vitreous body of the eye.
*PropylIodone* is a radiological contrast agent to increase the sensitivity of X-ray examinations. Belongs to the group of water-soluble iodine-containing contrasts. Available in the form of a solution for oral administration and directly for injection. Used for special indications immediately before examination of the oral cavity, larynx, and paranasal sinuses. Compensates for insufficient swallowing reflex. The main condition for administering the drug is the release of gastric juice, so the solution is recommended for use only after the administration of osmotic laxatives before the procedure. Reduces the visual system's ability to control movement, color perception, and image of the shape of objects. The product does not affect reflex sensitivity indicators. It is not used for diagnosing acute inflammatory processes of bone tissue or for obtaining radiographs of the large intestine in the presence of bleeding and gastrointestinal obstruction. Not used during pregnancy. If it is necessary to continue the examination after using osaltamnium and iodosulfale, other contrast agents can be administered using a special port system. Failure to comply with the technique for performing x-ray procedures may cause the development of an allergic reaction as a result of the negative effect of the compound on the patient’s body. The manifestation of allergies is manifested by excessive sneezing, swelling of the lips or tongue, rashes in the form of small red dots on the skin of the limbs and torso, a feeling of malaise, a sharp decrease in blood pressure and sensations of pain in the heart and behind the sternum. Therapy should consist of removing residual amounts of iodides from the body and using appropriate medications to eliminate vomiting. In addition, blood purification and normalization of the digestive system are required.
