The lateral groove (sulcus lateralis) is a groove separating the anterior and middle lobes of the cerebrum. It begins on the medial surface of the hemisphere, goes outward and downward, bending around the middle lobe from above and from the side. A branch of the middle cerebral artery passes through the lateral groove.
