Hammel erythema is a type of allergic urticaria in which a person experiences excruciating itching after taking various drugs or medications. Other similar types of rashes are pityriasis versicolor (Giber's lichen) or solar (sunburn), but in these cases, skin irritation is caused not by medications, but by sunlight, rough clothing or aggressive chemicals.
