Today, as aging becomes more common and life extends by decades, it is especially important to pay attention to the social, cultural and medical aspects of gerontology. This science studies not only the physiological changes associated with aging, but also those factors that affect the quality of life of older people.

**Changes that occur with age** Each person is individual, and the aging process does not occur in the same way for everyone. However, there are common stereotypes associated with the characteristics of older people. Many of them are negative, since they represent not only an age-related fact, but are also associated with loss of functions and the development of weaknesses or deviations. For example, an elderly person is considered to be an elderly person who is ignored by his children and grandchildren; who is absent-minded and forgetful; makes new contacts without much desire; lives alone and retains the habits of the past. But often this lifestyle is not the result of poor health, but a consequence of the lack of social status, ability and desire to be
