Gimli Kruzhok (English: Gimli Kruzhok, German: Himly Krüchocz) was a famous German ophthalmologist who lived at the end of the 18th and beginning of the 19th centuries. He was one of the first doctors who began to study the nature of vision and methods of its correction.
Hook was born in Stuttgart in 1757. Since childhood, he was interested in medicine and decided to devote his life to the study of eye diseases. In 1805 he moved to Berlin, where he began teaching at the department of ophthalmology at the medical university. A few years later he became a professor of medicine and retained this position until the end of his life.
