Hyperkinesis

Hyperkinesis is involuntary, repetitive movements. Hyperkinesis can be a tic (blinking, finger tapping, stomping) or uncontrolled movements of the muscles of the face, tongue, lips and jaw. There are several types of hyperkinesis, each of which has its own causes and symptoms.

Hyperkinetic disorder and twitch tics are very common disorders. A tic is a repetitive, involuntary movement that continues over a long period of time and interferes with normal daily life. Most children suffer from tics (2–5%), but they usually resolve by age 7. However, among adults, hyperkinetic people make up about 2% of the population. Often these people are considered too noisy, improvident and impulsive. Hyperkinesia (motor hyperactivity syndrome with attention deficit disorder) is a neurological syndrome expressed in the discrepancy between the psychomotor level of development of a child and the indicators of chronological age. Also, people with hyperkinetic disorder often have difficulty concentrating.
