**Hirsch Bird reflex** is the body’s response by contracting the spinal extensor muscles and straightening the body when striking the soft palate or striking its projection with a finger. This reaction is an unconditioned reflex, regulated by the nerve centers of the medulla oblongata. May occur during the Stark test (concussion injury). A decrease in the reflex is also observed with hemiplegia. If the heart rate decreases (for example, with hypovolemia), it may be completely absent.
