Glenara symptom complex

Glenard symptom complex is a complex of symptoms first described by the French physician François Boyer de Glenard in 1885.

Main symptoms:

  1. Feeling of heaviness, discomfort or pain in the epigastric region
  2. Nausea, heartburn
  3. Bloating, flatulence
  4. Dizziness, headache
  5. Weakness, fatigue
  6. Anxiety, irritability

Causes:

  1. Gastrointestinal dysfunction
  2. Vegetovascular dystonia
  3. Psycho-emotional disorders

Diagnosis is based on complaints, examination data and exclusion of other diseases of the abdominal organs.

Treatment: diet, medications that improve the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract, sedatives, antidepressants, psychotherapy.

The prognosis is favorable with adequate treatment.
