This pus is retained under the cornea either deep or closer to the surface. This area of the cornea is similar to a section of a fingernail; if at the same time part of the cornea is corroded, then this is called chalkatana.
Treatment. Pavel says that for pus under the cornea they use such remedies as a honey drink, squeezed fenugreek juice, and if the pus has stagnated for a long time and thickened, then incense ointment with saffron and lead. Or it is pulled out with the help of sweet clover, flaxseed mucus and fresh radish decoction, if this is not prevented by inflammation of the eye. Cleanse with such means as ointment from myrrh and fume. If there are no ulcers, then apply the following ointment: kalkadis and saffron - one uqiya, myrrh - one and a half dirhams, honey - one rittle; they lubricate it, as you will know. There is also a remedy made from magnetite, which is prepared for pterygoid hymen. Then the medicine from Samian clay, described in the chapter on vesicles.
Those pustules that are on the cornea are whitish, and those on the connective membrane are reddish.
Treatment. One should apply bloodletting, dripping blood into the eye, as we will mention in the paragraph on bruising, a medicinal bandage made from a rag soaked in egg white beaten with wine or rose oil; you should drip milk into the eye, in which horehound seeds are soaked; and also use lead ointment and Hanafiyun ointment.
