**Goja Ploskin** is an American gynecologist and doctor of German origin, the founder of gynecology as a discipline.

He was educated at the University of Tübingen and then went to work in Paris, where he met French doctors Rene Théophile and Jean Morel. In 1828, Ploskin opened his own gynecological practice.

Goja Ploskian devoted his career to gynecology. He studied gynecological diseases, especially menstrual disorders in women, and developed the first textbook on gynecology for medical faculties. Ploskin also invented the first paper made from paper fibers for use in gynecology, which replaced cotton
