Hearing Spots

Hearing spots are included in the list of specially protected natural areas of the Chelyabinsk region. The decision to create this natural monument was influenced by the uniqueness of the objects - the so-called “geophones”.

There are a variety of sound labyrinths in nature, but they are most common in hilly areas. Geophones are scree of stones that block sounds coming from all directions. As soon as the streams of rockfalls reach the hill, the stones “shake” in their underground layer, and the force of the vibration “rises” the front of the slope surface. This is where their name “geophones” comes from, since stones are geogens, and the acoustic “background” is a recorded sound wave reflected by this stone, that is, a geophone. Under natural conditions, sound corridors arise and collapse over several years or decades. However, due to
