Hemorrhagic Cercopithecus fever

Cercopithecus hemorrhagic fever is a highly contagious disease caused by herpes viruses belonging to the Poxviridae family. This disease can lead to serious complications and death if not treated promptly.

The source of infection is infected monkeys, especially macaques. The virus is transmitted through contact with contaminated saliva, blood or other body fluids. The infection can also be transmitted through household items and toys. Young macaques and humans exposed to monkey saliva are most susceptible to infection.
