The Hoffmeyer move is a hockey move named after the Russian ice hockey player Sergei Hofmeyer.
The technique is that the player, dribbling the puck, lifts it onto the hook of his stick, and then sharply lowers it down, as if passing it to himself. This allows you to hide the puck from the defenders and goalie for a split second and suddenly shoot at the goal.
Hoffmeyer mastered this technique perfectly and often scored goals this way. This is where the name “Hoffmeyer maneuver” or simply “Hoffmeyer maneuver” comes from. This trick requires high skating and stick handling techniques.
Today, many hockey players use the Hoffmeyer to dribble past defenders and make sudden shots. This unconventional move allows you to catch the goalkeeper and defense by surprise. Therefore, the Hoffmeyer is rightfully considered one of the best techniques in hockey.
