Indapamide Nycomed

Indapamide Nycomed: an effective drug to combat arterial hypertension and heart failure

Indapamide Nycomed is one of the medications intended for the treatment of arterial hypertension and chronic heart failure. This drug belongs to the pharmacological group of loop diuretics and is available in the form of film-coated tablets containing 2.5 mg of the active substance - indapamide. Indapamide Nycomed is manufactured by Apotex Inc. in Canada and has the international name "Indapamide". The drug is also known under various synonyms, including Acripamide, Arindap, Arifon, Arifon retard, Vero-Indapamide, Indap, Indapamide-Verte, Indapressin, Indapsan, Ionic, Ionic retard, Lorvas, Pamid and Ravel SR.

The main indications for the use of Indapamide Nycomed are arterial hypertension and chronic heart failure. The drug has a diuretic effect, helps lower blood pressure and improve heart function. However, before starting to take the drug, contraindications must be taken into account. Indapamide Nycomed is not recommended for use in case of hypersensitivity to indapamide, cerebrovascular accidents, severe liver failure, diabetes mellitus in a state of decompensation, gout, as well as during pregnancy and lactation.

Like all medicines, Indapamide Nycomed may cause side effects. Possible adverse reactions may include weakness, orthostatic hypotension, hyperuricemia, hypokalemia, nausea, epigastric pain, diarrhea, cramps and allergic reactions. If any unpleasant symptoms occur, you should consult your doctor.

An important point when using Indapamide Nycomed is its interaction with other drugs. It may enhance the effect of antihypertensive drugs and increase the risk of hypokalemia when used concomitantly with potassium-sparing diuretics. Before starting a combination medication, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

In case of an overdose of Indapamide Nycomed, symptoms such as weakness, water and electrolyte imbalance, decreased blood pressure, orthostatic hypotension and others may occur. If you suspect an overdose, you should immediately seek medical help.

In general, Indapamide Nycomed is an effective drug for the treatment of arterial hypertension and chronic heart failure. However, it should be prescribed and taken only under the supervision of a physician, who takes into account the patient's characteristics and other health factors. It is important to follow the doctor's instructions and recommendations, not to exceed the dosage and undergo regular follow-up examinations.
