Infectious diseases represent one of the leading causes of illness and death. However, their spread can be successfully controlled through comprehensive education and immunization programs using appropriate medications.
The first chapter talked about ways of spreading infections. Now we will look at the most common infectious diseases in Ukraine.
What is an infectious disease
An infectious disease is
a condition caused by pathogens such as bacteria and viruses
Bacteria are found in the environment, some of them live both inside and outside the human body. Certain types of microorganisms can cause serious illnesses, such as tetanus. Some, but not all, bacteria can be treated with antibiotics. It is much more difficult to resist viruses, since there are few drugs that could have an effective effect on them. Viruses cause a variety of diseases, including the common cold, hepatitis and AIDS.
