Inh

Inh: anti-tuberculosis drug from the group of isonicotinic acid hydrazide

Inkh (isoniazid) is an anti-tuberculosis drug that is used to treat all forms of tuberculosis. It belongs to the group of isonicotinic acid hydrazides and is produced by Bayer AG in Germany.

Inh is available in the form of film-coated tablets containing 100 mg, 200 mg or 300 mg of the active ingredient isoniazid. The drug is also known under the following synonyms: Izozid 200, Isoniazid, Isoniazid (Tubazid), Isoniazid-Akos, Isoniazid-Ferein and Nidrazide.

Although Inkh is effective in treating tuberculosis, it can also cause a number of side effects. Some of them include headache, dizziness, euphoria, difficulty sleeping, nausea, vomiting, heart pain, allergic skin reactions, peripheral neuritis, psychosis, toxic hepatitis, gynecomastia and menorrhagia.

Inkh also has several contraindications, including hypersensitivity, epilepsy, a tendency to seizures, poliomyelitis (including a history), severe hepatic-renal failure, phlebitis and atherosclerosis.

In addition, Inkh may interact with other medications, which may increase the risk of side effects. For example, when used simultaneously with rifampicin and paracetamol, the risk of developing hepatotoxicity increases. With the simultaneous use of isoniazid with carbamazepine or phenytoin, the metabolism of the latter is suppressed, which leads to an increase in their concentrations in the blood plasma and increased toxic effects.

If Inkh is taken as recommended by your doctor, it can be an effective drug for treating tuberculosis. It is important to monitor for possible side effects and report them to your doctor. It is also necessary to strictly adhere to the dosage and not exceed it to avoid overdose.

Inh can be prescribed in combination with other anti-tuberculosis drugs to slow the development of microbial resistance. Inkh should only be taken under the supervision of a doctor, who will monitor the effectiveness of treatment and possible side effects.
