Source of Water Supply

**Source of water supply** (sources of water intake) is a set of concentrated natural underground (river, lake, swamp, spring, groundwater, etc.) or surface (artificial borehole and mine) waters or bottom (stratal, cohesive, karst) flows in an aquifer or dome located in a small area, which is the main reservoir of reserves and used for the production of technical or drinking water. When assessing the operational significance, both for domestic and drinking purposes and for technical water supply, the main characteristic of natural water supply sources is the minimum coefficient of unevenness of water consumption. In this regard, high-capacity water supply sources are important. As is known, when desalinating salt-bearing brines, the same method of reverse osmosis is used, however, in the process of transporting brines to the point of consumption, the volume of liquid in the filter membranes is significantly reduced, which requires high concentrations of brines in a mixture with sea water
