Cardiamide: description, application and features of use

Cardiamide is a drug that belongs to the pharmacological group of analeptic drugs. It is produced in Poland by the Polfa company and has the international name Niketamide. In addition, the drug is known under the synonyms Nicotinic Acid Diethylamide, Cordiamin, Cordiamin-Rusfar and Cordimid.

The dosage form of Cardiamide is an oral solution 25%, and its active substance is Niketamide. The drug is used for acute and chronic circulatory disorders, for decreased vascular tone and weakened breathing in patients with infectious diseases and in those recovering, for acute collapse and asphyxia, for shock conditions that occur during surgery and in the postoperative period, as well as for asphyxia of newborns .

However, the drug is contraindicated if you are predisposed to seizures. Fortunately, there are no reports of side effects or interactions with other medications. There is also no evidence of overdose.

It is worth noting that subcutaneous and intramuscular injections of Cardiamine can be painful. To reduce the pain of injections, novocaine (1 ml of 0.5-1% solution) is sometimes injected into the injection site first.
