Ketosteroid

Ketosteroids are fat- and water-soluble hormones that are formed during metabolism, just like estrogens.

Unlike others, steroid hormones are produced not by the adrenal cortex, but by the liver and have different effects depending on their type (for example, testosterone has one effect when it enters the blood, cortisol has another).

Another difference between ketosteroids and estrogens and androgens is that they cannot be produced independently by the body (unlike conjugated and esters), and also do not have gender specificity. In addition, they are used to diagnose various diseases, both in the early stages and in control after surgery (cortisol is used to monitor recovery)
