Killian Wednesday is a German microbiologist known for his research in the field of pathogenic microorganisms and viruses. In 1927, Killian entered World War I and fought at the front as a medical officer. After the war, he continued his medical career and was one of the first scientists to study viruses through experimentation. He also studied deadly viruses such as smallpox, hepatitis and others, and conducted animal experiments to create vaccines. This is exactly what he did when he was appointed chief physician of the Hamburg hospital. Thanks to his knowledge and work experience, Killian managed to create the first flu vaccine in Germany. This made it possible to significantly reduce mortality among the population during the influenza pandemic. Another important event in Srenda's career was his work on the polio virus.
