The cells of the perivascular zone are represented by collagen and connective cells; due to their volumetric arrangement, they are classified as fibrocytes. They are located in the isthmus and at the junction of blood vessels into the skin or vice versa. The cells perform a supporting role and also play a protective role. Intense vascularization occurs in this zone. They have receptors for type IV collagen, their degradation leads to weakening of the vascular wall and their infarction, which causes faster aging of blood vessels.
