Astrocytoma

Astrocytoma is a tumor neoplasm that is formed from glial cells - glial elements that participate in the formation and maintenance of the structure of the nervous system. As astrocytomas develop, they cause changes in brain tissue, the nervous system, and organs surrounding the brain, such as the eyes, spinal cord, and lungs. Most often, astrocytes are found in the meninges and become malignant when removed.
