Climatotherapeutic Regime

Climatotherapy is a treatment method based on the use of natural climatic factors (temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, solar radiation, etc.) to influence the body. Climatotherapy can be both general and local.

Climatotherapy is one of the most ancient methods of treatment. Even in ancient China and India, doctors used the climate to treat various diseases. Currently, climatotherapy is a popular treatment method in many countries around the world. It is used to treat diseases of the nervous system, respiratory system, cardiovascular system, gastrointestinal tract, musculoskeletal system and other diseases.

For climatotherapy treatment, various natural factors are used, such as sun, air, water and earth. The impact of these factors on the human body may vary depending on the disease and its stage. For example, for diseases of the nervous system, sunbathing, air baths, water procedures and mud therapy are used. For respiratory diseases, air baths, carbon dioxide baths, hydrogen sulfide baths and other procedures are used.

The system of rules governing the use of climatic factors for medicinal purposes is called the climatotherapeutic regime. It includes the following rules:

  1. Choice of treatment site. The location must be appropriate for the purpose of treatment and be safe for the patient.
  2. Choice of time of year. The time of year should be optimal for treating a particular disease.
  3. Selecting the time of day. The time of day should correspond to the purpose of treatment and the patient's condition.
  4. Choice of climatic conditions. Climatic conditions must correspond to the purpose of treatment.
  5. Choice of treatment methods. Treatment methods should be tailored to the patient's goals and condition.

Climatotherapeutic regimes are widely used in medicine. Modern science makes it possible to combine climatotherapy methods with physiotherapy and exercise therapy, which increases the effectiveness of treatment several times. The positive effects of even short trips to regions with a favorable climate and a course of climatotherapy are noted after the first three days of the trip in 81% of patients. Reducing pain is one of the main therapeutic results. Climatic therapy is widely used to relieve chronic pain syndromes, both in spinal osteochondrosis and in post-traumatic and postoperative pain in various parts of the spine. Daily radon baths can dramatically slow the progression of the disease. They have a general therapeutic effect on the body, significantly improve the general condition of patients and alleviate the course of the disease. Therapeutic and prophylactic radon baths significantly increase the body's resistance to various infections (including viral ones), reduce fatigue, and stimulate the synthesis of interferon.
