Coagulopathy

Coagulopathies (the word is a transliteration from Latin “coagulation disorder”, Greek “suffering”) is a significant impairment of the functional ability of the blood coagulation system. Coagulopathy is also referred to as coagulation imbalance, hyperaggregation syndrome or hemostasis disorder

Coagulopathy is a condition characterized by changes in the blood coagulation system, the causes of which may be hereditary diseases or medications.

Blood clotting occurs due to the presence in humans of plasma blood clotting factors, which are activated when the vascular wall is damaged or its permeability changes. One of the main pathological conditions associated with activation of blood clotting is disseminated intravascular coagulation syndrome.
