Anoxic coma is a condition in which the patient is unconscious due to prolonged hypoxia or lack of oxygen. Prolonged oxygen starvation causes a coma. Oxygen deprivation is one of the consequences of uncontrolled illness or injury and can be caused by too much carbon dioxide intake, anemia or heart failure.
