A hypertensive crisis is an emergency condition in patients with arterial hypertension associated with significantly increased blood pressure or a decrease in circulating blood volume and causes serious cerebrovascular accidents.
The peculiarity of a hypertensive crisis is the rapid development and deterioration of the patient’s condition. This occurs due to the fact that under conditions of high blood pressure, changes occur in the patient’s body that cause disruption of the activity of the heart, blood vessels and brain. Hypertensive disorders develop over several hours, and symptoms of hypertension may include seizures, numbness in the arms and legs, severe dizziness, and loss of consciousness.
