Bloody islands (Latin Insulae sanguinae, English Blood islands) are one of the blood conditions, clinically manifested by the formation in it of a large number of small elongated fragments of circulating red blood cells, reminiscent of individual islands. Formed during erythrocytosis, uremia, and some heart diseases.
