Kuril Shrub Tea
An erect or spreading shrub of the Rosaceae family, 20–150 cm high. The branches are grayish-brown with peeling bark. Young branches are silky golden.
The leaves are odd-pinnate, oblong, often densely pubescent. Blooms in June - August. The flowers are bright yellow.
Kuril tea is widespread in the European part of Russia, Western and Eastern Siberia, the Caucasus, Central Asia and the Far East. It grows on the banks of rivers, lakes, water meadows and rocky mountain slopes up to an altitude of 2000 m above sea level. It is successfully cultivated in gardens and orchards.
Leaves and flowers are used as medicinal raw materials. The tops of plants with inflorescences are harvested. The raw materials are loosely placed in a basket or matting bag, dried in the sun and dried in a dryer or oven at a temperature of 6°. 7О°С. Store in bags or other closed containers for 1 year.
The aerial part of the plant contains vitamins C and P, carotene, phenol carbonic acids (caffeic acid, synapic acid, ferulic acid, ellagic acid, coumaric acid), catechins, flavonoids and triterpenoids (ursolic acid).
Kuril tea preparations have antimicrobial, expectorant, choleretic, hemostatic and astringent effects.
In Tibetan medicine, the plant is used for inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and pulmonary tuberculosis. An infusion of leaves and flowers is used for diarrhea of various origins, as well as for lobar pneumonia, as an expectorant and a means of supporting cardiac function.
A decoction of leaves and flowers is prescribed for inflammatory liver diseases as a choleretic agent and for fever as a diaphoretic. In Mongolia, the infusion is used for bloody diarrhea, as a hemostatic and appetite-improving agent, as well as for various neuropsychiatric diseases and blood diseases.
To prepare an infusion of leaves, pour 2 tablespoons of the raw material into 0.5 liters of hot water, boil in a closed enamel container over low heat for 5-7 minutes, cool for 30 minutes and filter through two or three layers of gauze.
Take 1/2 cup 3-4 times a day before meals.
When using a decoction, pour 1 tablespoon of leaves into 1 glass of hot water, boil in a closed enamel container in a water bath for 30 minutes, filter while hot and bring the volume to the original volume. Take 2 tablespoons 3 times a day before meals.
