Leucovorin-Lance: description of the drug and its use

Leucovorin-Lance is a drug that is used to treat methotrexate intoxication, megaloblastic anemia of iatrogenic origin, as well as folinium hypo- and vitamin deficiency. It belongs to the folic acid group and is produced by the Russian company Lance-Pharm.

The main active ingredient of the medicine is calcium folinate. It is synonymous with drugs such as Dalizol, Calciumfolinate-Ebeve, Leucovorin Ca Lachema 10, Leucovorin Ca Lachema 25, Leucovorin Calcium, Leucovorin-Teva, Sanfitcinate and Calcium Folinate. Leucovorin-Lance is available in the form of lyophilized powder for the preparation of injection solutions of 25 mg, 50 mg and 10 mg.

The use of Leucovorin-Lance has a number of contraindications, including hypersensitivity, pernicious and other megaloblastic anemia due to vitamin B12 deficiency. Also, its use during pregnancy and breastfeeding is permissible only in cases of extreme necessity.

The main side effect when using Leucovorin-Lance is allergic reactions. In addition, the medicine may reduce the effects of methotrexate, including its therapeutic effect.

Before using Leucovorin-Lance, you must pay attention to special instructions. Thus, a solution of calcium folinate for infusion should be prepared ex tempore, and it can only be used within 12 hours.
