Lidocaine-Teva: A powerful local anesthetic from Israel

Lidocaine-Teva is a pharmaceutical drug manufactured by the Israeli company Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. It belongs to the group of local anesthetics and is widely used in medical practice.

The main active ingredient in Lidocaine-Teva is lidocaine. This drug has various synonyms, such as Xicain, Xylestesin, Xylodont, Xylocaine, Lignocaine hydrochloride and others. It is available in the dosage form of a solution for injection with a concentration of 1%.

The main indications for the use of Lidocaine-Tev include the treatment of ventricular extrasystoles and tachyarrhythmias, including acute myocardial infarction, as well as in the postoperative period. The drug is also widely used for local anesthesia, including superficial, infiltration, conduction, epidural, spinal and intraligamentary anesthesia for surgical interventions, painful manipulations, endoscopic and instrumental studies.

It should be noted that Lidocaine-Tev has some contraindications. It is not recommended for patients with hypersensitivity to lidocaine, as well as in the presence of epileptiform seizures on lidocaine, WPW syndrome, cardiogenic shock, sinus node weakness, heart block, severe liver disease, myasthenia gravis and during pregnancy.

Like any other medicine, Lidocaine-Teva has side effects. Some of these include headache, dizziness, tinnitus, altered consciousness, respiratory depression, central nervous system depression or excitation, nervousness, convulsions, nausea, vomiting and allergic reactions.

It is important to consider possible interactions of Lidocaine-Teva with other drugs. For example, it can enhance the inhibitory effect of narcotic drugs on the respiratory center and weaken the cardiotonic effect of digitoxin. It was also noted that some drugs, such as MAO inhibitors and beta-blockers, may affect the effectiveness of Lidocaine-Teva.

In case of an overdose of Lidocaine-Teva, serious side effects may occur. Signs of overdose include dizziness, drowsiness, muscle weakness, seizures, cardiac arrhythmias, decreased blood pressure, and even respiratory arrest. If these symptoms occur, you should immediately seek medical help.
