Lipomatosis is a pathological condition characterized by excessive accumulation of adipose tissue in the body.
The main signs of lipomatosis:
-
Increased fat content in tissues compared to normal. With lipomatosis, excessive growth of adipose tissue occurs, which leads to its excess in the body.
-
The presence of multiple lipomas. Lipomas are benign tumors of adipose tissue. With lipomatosis, a large number of lipomas of various sizes are formed in the body.
-
Increase in the volume of areas of the body affected by lipomatosis. This may manifest as local accumulations of fat or diffuse thickening of subcutaneous fat.
-
Deformation of the figure and violation of body contours.
Lipomatosis can affect different areas of the body. The most common localization is the abdomen, back, buttocks and thighs. Treatment includes diet, exercise, medication, and sometimes surgery.
Lipomatosis is a group of diseases in which pathological formation of adipose tissue develops in various organs and tissues of the body. Etiologically, the most common causes of the development of lipomatosis are deposits of neutral fats in muscle cells, in the stroma of various organs, on the surface of tissues and inside them.
Lipomatosis mainly occurs in elderly people. Their presence is observed in women twice as often as in men. According to modern data, based on morbidity statistics, women and men experience lipomatosis almost equally often. There is only one peculiarity: in women, cases of this disease are diagnosed before the age of 60, and in men only after 70. This disease is extremely rare in children.
Lipomatoses are a heterogeneous group of benign diseases of adipose tissue, which are manifested by the multiple appearance of fatty plaques. With this disease, skin-like scars appear in the subcutaneous fatty tissue (cuticles), on the skin, muscles, internal organs and mucous membranes.
