Lichen planus is a chronic skin disease with symptoms in the form of a flat, pink or red-brown scaly lesion. It is distinguished by the same type of manifestations and slow progression. May be accompanied by thickening and peeling of the skin, pain, and itching. Diagnosis is based on the detection of characteristic skin changes in the lesions (hyperkeratosis, lichenification, scratching marks) and laboratory data. Effective treatment depends on the cause of the disease and includes the prescription of vitamin and immunocorrective drugs, antihistamines, anti-inflammatory drugs, and local agents. In children, systemic therapy is sometimes required.
