Lothuissen-Rieder Puncture

The Lothuissen-Rieder puncture is one of many procedures that are performed in surgical departments to treat various diseases. This intervention not only allows you to cure the patient, but also prevents possible complications associated with the disease.

The Lothuissen-Roeder puncture was invented by the Austrian surgeon Hans Lothessen and the German physician Nika Roeder at the beginning of the 20th century. They noticed that in some lung diseases, such as bronchiectasis, there is a buildup of mucus in the lungs, which leads to swelling and inflammation of the lungs. Lotesseny and Reder proposed a method for draining these accumulations, which is still used in many countries around the world.

The Lotessen-Rieder procedure is performed as follows: surgeons make a small incision in the skin over the area where mucus accumulates, and then insert a special instrument into this area - a tube, which allows you to remove the mucus contained there. This procedure usually takes only a few minutes.
