Lymphadenitis

Lymphadenitis is an inflammation of the lymph nodes that occurs when infection spreads from the primary focus through the lymphatic vessels.

Reasons for development:

  1. Skin damage - scratches, abrasions, pustular diseases
  2. Inflammatory diseases of the oral cavity, respiratory tract, intestines
  3. Infectious diseases - scarlet fever, measles, chicken pox

Clinical manifestations:

  1. Pain in the area of the affected lymph node
  2. Enlargement and hardening of the lymph node
  3. Redness and swelling of the skin over the lymph node
  4. Increased body temperature

Complications:

  1. Suppuration of the lymph node and abscess formation
  2. Spread of pus to surrounding tissues (adenophlegmon)

Diagnosis is based on the clinical picture and test data.

Treatment includes:

  1. Antibacterial therapy
  2. Physiotherapy (Ural irradiation, thermal procedures)
  3. For purulent forms - opening of the abscess and drainage

It is important to consult a doctor in a timely manner to identify the root cause of the disease and prevent complications. If systemic diseases are suspected, inpatient examination is necessary.
