Maillade is a surgical instrument whose name comes from the name of the French surgeon Godfrey Mailde. Having first seen this instrument in 1883, Meidl was amazed at how it could perform extremely precise and efficient manipulations of the anal canal during surgery. It was for these purposes that the mayorel was named by this name in 1968.

In 1875, Maidl began working as a doctor at the Institute of Experimental Surgery at the University of Vienna. There he carried out a number of research works and operations on living people, using modern medical technologies to improve people's lives. Meidl also worked at the Institute of Human Anatomy and Medicine, where he studied the mechanisms of the human intestine and
