A double uterus or double uterus is a congenital developmental defect that is characterized by duplication of the uterine cavity (uterine body) in the same woman. This is a rare medical case that is associated with an abnormal process of embryogenesis during fetal development.

This developmental defect is due to the fact that during pregnancy, not one, but two parts of the Müllerian duct are formed and developed, which normally should merge into one uterus-uterus, flattening the uterine cavity. If the fusion fails, a double uterus occurs and the presence of another paired vagina is possible. The described phenomenon is often unilateral, but there are cases of asymmetrical arrangement of double organs. Disposition disorder is also possible
