Meningitis Viral

Viral meningitis is a disease caused by viruses that attack the meninges and internal structures such as the cerebrospinal fluid and medulla. Viruses can be transmitted through airborne droplets, contact with contaminated surfaces, or through blood. Symptoms of viral meningitis include fever, headache, vomiting, stiff neck and drowsiness. Complications may include inflammation of the brain and its lining, which can lead to death if not treated promptly. Treatment of viral menintitis consists of antibiotics and symptomatic therapy. Early detection and treatment help reduce the risk of complications and improve the prognosis of the disease. An important preventative measure is vaccination against certain viruses that cause meningitis.
