Meningococcemia Fulminant

Meningocemia is an acute infectious disease characterized by a bacterial infection of the bloodstream. The generally recognized pathogen is meningococcus. The disease may be accompanied by the development of various inflammatory processes in the body.

Meningocemia fulminate is one of the severe forms of this infection. In this condition, rapid and extensive infiltration of the subcutaneous tissue and dermis by various microorganisms occurs. The lesion leads to the formation of hematomas and peeling of the skin, which leads to swelling and edema. In some cases, tissue rupture may occur, which is life-threatening for the victim.

The causative agent of this disease is Neisseria meningitidis. This is a gram-positive rod that usually lives in the upper respiratory tract, intestines or in the skin area.
