Micellar water is recognized as the best cleanser to appear on the modern cosmetics market. She allowed women to forget about their torment over the choice of products that cleanse the skin of the face, neck and décolleté from decorative cosmetics, dust, dirt and residual secretions of the sebaceous glands. It is believed that micellar water is suitable for all skin types, but only a few people know what this product actually is.

What is micellar water

This cosmetic product can be characterized by only three parameters - no color, no taste, no smell. It is a clear liquid that foams slightly when vigorously shaken. Some manufacturers give it a light floral aroma that is unobtrusive.

Initially, micellar water was used for the skin of people with dermatological diseases, then it became one of the means of treatment in surgery for extensive burns. Gradually, cosmetologists began to recommend the product to patients with problematic facial skin, noting that it does not dry out or tighten the dermis.

Water contains micelles (hence the name) - microscopic particles that can envelop contaminants and bind them to water. Depending on the concentration of micelles contained in each specific product, the manufacturer positions its product as a remedy against long-lasting decorative cosmetics or for regular washing. Additionally, glycerin, vitamins, and medicinal plant extracts are added to it.

Benefits and harms of the product

These two characteristics of the product are inseparable, because harm from it can only occur if used incorrectly.

Manufacturers often indicate that micellar water does not require rinsing, but practicing cosmetologists claim that this is absolutely wrong. This is due to the fact that the product only binds particles of secretion from the sebaceous glands, dirt and decorative cosmetics, but their removal from the surface of the skin occurs precisely during subsequent washing.

What happens if you neglect this nuance? The pores will become clogged with “clumps” of dirt, which will provoke extensive acne, acne and inflammation. It is enough to cause a slight injury (for example, with a fingernail) and there is a high probability of penetration of an infectious agent, and this is a direct path to the formation of ulcers.

Of course, micellar water has many benefits:

  1. can be used for cleansing before any cosmetic procedure;
  2. cleanses the surface of the dermis even from the secretions of the sebaceous/sweat glands and does not leave a film on it or cause a feeling of tightness;
  3. improves skin tone, visually makes the facial contour clearer;
  4. has a weak rejuvenating effect - it can make small expression wrinkles (“crow’s feet”) less noticeable.

Product Types

In the cosmetic industry, three types of the product in question are produced:

  1. "Green chemistry", which is the basis of the remedy. Its distinctive feature is that it is a non-toxic product and does not irritate even the hypersensitive epidermis at all. This makes it possible to periodically use such micellar water without necessarily rinsing with water.
  2. Based on emulsifiers, they are used in the production of only classic types of similar components. Practicing cosmetologists claim that emulsifiers negatively affect the skin, making it excessively dry. The result can be peeling, irritation, and redness, so this type of micellar water must be washed off the face.
  3. With poloxamers – substances that not only enhance the cleansing effect of micelles, but also do not cause irritation to the skin. Initially, only this type of product was produced, and it really does not require rinsing with water. Subsequently, other types of “micellar” appeared on the cosmetics market, but the inscription on the label remained.

How to use micellar water correctly

Despite the fact that the product is recognized as the best among cleansers even by practicing cosmetologists, there are certain rules for its use. You shouldn’t mindlessly wash off your makeup every day, because this can cause “side effects” in the form of acne, acne, areas of inflammation and irritation with peeling and redness.

From what age should it be used?

In principle, there are no age restrictions on the use of micellar water. The only thing cosmetologists advise you to pay attention to is the condition of the facial skin. If a teenager does not have rashes or acne, the dermis is of normal or combined type, and the girl does not use decorative cosmetics, then the product is not needed.

How often

If the facial skin responds adequately to such cleansing, then it can be done daily. But experts warn that “micellar” is intended to clean the dermis of dust/dirt and decorative cosmetics. And it is unlikely that this needs to be done in the morning or at lunchtime, although there may be exceptions, for example, if daytime makeup needs to be changed to evening makeup.

Practitioners believe that the normal frequency of use of the product is every evening.

When to do this

Sometimes micellar water is indicated for use. Cosmetologists recommend using it for:

  1. excessively dry skin;
  2. if you are allergic to any other detergents;
  3. wearing contact lenses.

In addition, the product will be useful for those for whom various oily cleansing creams/lotions/tonics cause extensive formation of comedones.

Why you can't use micellar every day

This opinion is often expressed by cosmetologists and they justify this recommendation by the fact that it is possible that the water-fat balance of the dermis may be disrupted and problems may arise in metabolic processes at the cellular level.

In general, this issue is still controversial; it is worth assessing the condition of the skin on an individual basis. If there are no peelings, irritations on the skin, and its color does not deteriorate, then there are no restrictions on the frequency of using micellar.

Do I need to wash it off?

Be sure to wash micellar water off your face! Cosmetologists repeat this advice to every woman who uses the product. Yes, you can find a product on sale made on the basis of poloxamers - it does not need to be washed off, but where is the guarantee that the manufacturer has not added additional surfactants to it. This will be indicated on the label, but in very small print.

There is an algorithm for using micellar water:

  1. Wash your face with clean water.
  2. Wipe the skin with a cotton pad soaked in the product.
  3. Wash with warm water.

If you are using particularly persistent decorative cosmetics, then at the very beginning you need to remove it with any greasy product, and then move on, according to the algorithm.

Which brand of micellar water should I choose?

There are other well-known manufacturers, but they are more focused on producing medicinal and caring cosmetics. Their products cause the least complaints, but they are not cheap.

If you don’t mind spending any money in pursuit of beauty and healthy skin, we recommend paying attention to the following brands:

7. La Roche-Posay

The products of these brands should be chosen by people with serious dermatological problems that cannot be solved by ordinary cosmetic solutions.

The best micellar water for cleansing

The simplest and most “gentle” type of micellar can be used even to care for very sensitive skin. These formulas provide gentle cleansing and do not contain aggressive substances. Even tight-fisted Europeans specifically buy micellar solutions for washing their face in order to spend less on regular water. After all, to effectively clean your face, you don’t need to splash around under the tap - just wipe your face with a cotton pad soaked in a dispersion product. It’s also convenient to take this water with you to work or on the road. The main advantage of such compositions is that they really do not need to be washed off.

So what is it?
Micellar water is a cleanser made for sensitive skin that replaces soap. It does not cause irritation and moisturizes the skin. Micellar water is also designed to remove makeup.

Everything seems clear, so let’s start testing children’s micellar water from Kloran, Cleansing micellar water no-rinse formula.

micellyarnaya-voda-dlya-detej-ldKkA.webp

Initially, I want to say that I still didn’t understand why micellar water is for children.
Yes, okay, we'll figure it out as the story goes.

Having opened the package box with this water (I wrote about it here, I immediately felt a sharp floral smell, unusual for a children's hypoallergenic product. For this I immediately give a minus.

The lid was sealed with this kind of film

Looking ahead, I will say that it is very comfortable. You can use it with one hand, which is a big plus, especially when you have a small child and, for example, he needs to change a diaper.
You just need to apply a cotton pad to it and press.

We'll get back to packaging a little later, but for now I'll tell you about my impressions.
First, I decided to use it on myself before switching to children.

First way. Makeup removal. I only paint my eyes, and the manufacturer does not recommend removing eye makeup, so there is some difficulty here. Still, I took a chance and erased one eye.
What can I say? Of course, the micellar washed everything away, but a little got into my eye and started to sting.
Therefore, this product is not suitable for me as a makeup remover.
We are looking for another use.

Second way. Cleansing and moisturizing the skin. After moistening a cotton pad and running it over my face, I didn’t feel at all that my skin had become cleaner. Moreover, when I touch my face, I feel stickiness on the skin. Not a very pleasant feeling!
What's the matter?

Again, the all-knowing Internet helped me figure this out.
The fact is that micellar water is intended for dry and normal skin. I think you won’t be surprised, I, of course, have oily skin.
This means that this method does not suit me.

All that remains is to use it for its intended purpose, and test it on children (later we will catch a child, and I will show you how you can use this product).

For now, let's get back to the packaging.
The bottle is quite large - 500 ml.

micellyarnaya-voda-dlya-detej-RPqfW.webp

Shelf life: 3 years.
The product is made in France, at least that’s what the manufacturer claims.

Now let's experiment on children.
First, we catch one child. Fortunately, I have a lot of them.
And we draw on it, or rather, on it. Don't think about it, I don't do this often.

I would like to note that the micellar did an excellent job with the pen (alas, the photo did not load).
What do they add there that makes it cope with stubborn stains?

Now I know exactly how I will use this micellar water. Although I still don’t understand why children need micellar water?!
